Caldicot School is a 100% affordable housing scheme on the former secondary school site in Caldicot, delivering a mix of apartments and family homes for social rent. The layout is organised around a generous central amenity space, with a crescent of terraced homes forming a strong southern edge beside the new school, and apartment buildings addressing the northern boundary and existing public realm.

The design responds positively to the site’s urban grain, creating active frontages and good natural surveillance. Landscaping plays a central role, providing shared green space and establishing a key pedestrian and cycle link between the town centre and leisure facilities.

Factory Road | Newport

Client: Interstrand Ltd (Planning) Castell Group (Delivery)

Factory Road is a residential development scheme proposing two new apartment blocks on an existing commercial site. The scheme delivers 43 one- and two-bedroom apartments arranged within two

L-shaped buildings with stepped heights from three to six storeys. Set within a complex urban context – surrounded by residential properties, a church, commercial uses and notable level changes – the project required careful design and coordination.

Planning was secured for this challenging site, enabling the delivery of much-needed affordable homes in a sustainable location, with communal amenity areas, cycle storage and car parking thoughtfully integrated into the layout.
