House 1A, South Wales, UK

Client: Private
Budget: Confidential
Tenure: Private residence

House 1A was designed for a private client, who wanted a modern house that would fit into a secluded site deep in the welsh countryside, in an sensitive landscape area. The brief was for a house that would not negatively impact its surroundings, but complement and enhance them.

The design approach was to deliver a low sitting house that responded to the sloping topography, providing large basement level retained into the ground, with an extensive accommodation area at ground floor. Views were directed into the site, while extensive landscape screening and green roofing helped to lessen the impact on the surrounding landscape.
