Integrated SUDS Design

Pencefnarda, Penyrheol

Pencefnarda is a fully delivered 100% affordable housing scheme providing 43 new homes on the former Pencefnarda Farm site in Penyrheol. Working from early concept through to completion, we developed the masterplan, engaged closely with Swansea officers, and prepared the Design and Access Statement and supporting information for planning and the Social Housing Grant application.

The scheme required a careful design response to a sensitive setting, notable level changes and complex SuDS requirements. The completed neighbourhood offers an accessible, connected and sociable place to live. Green streets with rain gardens and new tree planting soften the environment, enhance biodiversity and manage surface water, creating a sustainable, welcoming setting now enjoyed by its new residents.

Sant Silian | Cardiff Gate

Sant Silian is the final phase of the St Ederyns development at Cardiff Gate, delivering 144 mixed-tenure homes within a strong landscape

framework defined by mature trees, hedgerows and green corridors. The masterplan is shaped by an integrated Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) strategy, where streets, front-of-home planting and open spaces work together to manage surface water naturally through permeable surfaces, rain gardens and planted attenuation features. This landscape-led approach enhances biodiversity, supports climate resilience and strengthens connections to active-travel routes and the wider neighbourhood. Guided by a comprehensive Design Code, the approved layout, building forms and material palette combine with the integrated SuDS network to deliver a cohesive, resilient and high-quality residential environment.
