Low Carbon Affordable Homes
Parc Eirin | Tonyrefail
Client: Codi Group
Parc Eirin delivers 225 low-carbon homes designed to create a long-lasting, sustainable neighbourhood for Tonyrefail and the Ely Valley. Phase One comprises 46 constructed low-carbon homes designed by Hammond Architectural Ltd and promoted by Sero Energy, Codi Group, Tirion and Morganstone
These homes replace traditional gas heating with a suite of renewable technologies, including solar panels, ground source heat pumps, smart hot water tanks, battery storage and intelligent energy management systems, helping to reduce bills and cut carbon emissions. Three-phase electricity is provided as standard to support EV charging. Future phases are now being progressed through to construction.

Loftus Garden Village
Client: Codi Group
Loftus Garden Village is an award-winning new neighbourhood created on a former industrial site, with sustainability, wellbeing and green infrastructure at its core. The development provides a mix of tenures with no visible distinction, supported by generous public realm, green streets and two inventive play parks shaped through early engagement with the local authority. Kitchen gardens, communal growing areas and sociable open spaces encourage active, healthy lifestyles and strengthen community integration.
Phase 2 continues this ethos, delivering 54 zero-carbon homes designed to meet WDQR 2021, with south-facing roofs for solar gain, flexible layouts and MMC-enabled house types.

St John’s Court | Newport
Client: Heydn Housing Association
St John’s Court is a 100% affordable housing scheme in Rogerstone, Newport, providing a mix of apartments, houses, bungalows and over-55s accommodation across two sites. The southern parcel is arranged around a shared courtyard, supporting a sociable later-living environment.
The scheme is driven by a low-carbon design approach, with a fabric-first strategy and passive design measures embedded from the outset to minimise energy demand, optimise solar gain and reduce overheating risk. This is supported by on-site renewable energy generation through photovoltaic panels and an efficient low-carbon heat pump system, delivering sustainable, future-proofed homes.
A simple, robust services strategy, combined with durable, low-maintenance materials, ensures long-term performance and reduced lifecycle impacts. The development also incorporates green roofs, SuDS and a community growing space, enhancing biodiversity, managing surface water and promoting resident wellbeing, while regenerating a previously developed brownfield site into a sustainable neighbourhood.
