Agate Street | Cardiff

Agate Street is a completed 100% affordable residential development on the site of a former bingo hall in Splott, which was destroyed by fire and left vacant from 2015. The project regenerates a long-derelict brownfield site, delivering 39 homes for social rent, comprising one and two-bedroom apartments.

The constrained urban site is addressed through a car-free design, incorporating sustainable drainage (SuDS), cycle parking and shared amenity space within a landscaped rear courtyard. Building heights step from three storeys alongside neighbouring homes to five storeys at the prominent corner. The architectural approach draws on the materials and proportions of the traditional terraced streets of Adamsdown and Splott, ensuring the development sits comfortably within its historic urban setting.

Factory Road | Newport

Factory Road is a residential development scheme proposing two new apartment blocks on an existing commercial site. The scheme delivers 43 one- and two-bedroom apartments arranged within two

L-shaped buildings with stepped heights from three to six storeys. Set within a complex urban context – surrounded by residential properties, a church, commercial uses and notable level changes – the project required careful design and coordination.

Planning was secured for this challenging site, enabling the delivery of much-needed affordable homes in a sustainable location, with communal amenity areas, cycle storage and car parking thoughtfully integrated into the layout.
