Tudor Lane, Cardiff, UK

Client: Local Media Company
Budget: Confidential
Tenure: Office / Recording Studio

Tudor Lane was designed for a local Media Company, who were looking to build an office for themselves as no suitable commercial property could be found. The brief was for a new office building to contain a recording studio, shared office space and meeting room that could double as an event space.

The site was occupied by an existing garage building in a poor state of repair, bound by neighbouring buildings of a similar scale to each side and the west coast mainline at the rear. A three storey design was create, with recording studio located at ground floor, along with reception. A shared office space was situated on first floor, with a meeting room & roof terrace overlooking the railway located at second floor.

Material and building form were heavily influenced by some of the higher quality architecture along Tudor Lane, namely the Victorian warehouse buildings, with their large square windows and simple brick detailing.
