Mandrake House, Rogerstone, Newport

As part of the overall development scheme at the site of the former Novelis/Alcan Factory, Rogerstone, Mandrake house is a development of 28 new 1 and 2 bedroom affordable apartments set over four floors.

The scheme is designed for 55+ living, meeting the design criteria of Lifetime Homes and a wheelchair turning facility is provided in all bathrooms. Level-access shower rooms are a feature of all ground floor apartments. Two of the apartments also provide direct wheelchair access to dedicated car parking spaces through French doors and enclosed patio areas. Additional facilities include a communal reception installation providing all apartments with access to digital television and radio stations, 37 car parking spaces, secure covered storage for 28 bicycles with refuse and recycling storage to meet the requirements of Newport Wastesavers. The scheme has also been developed in conjunction with Gwent Police to meet the requirements of Secured by Design, with a secure door entry video system linked to all apartments.
